European Week of Sport – 10th – 18th Sept 2016

The Hong Kong Dublin Dragon Boat Regatta is a registered event with the 2016 European Week of Sport which is being coordinated here in Ireland by the Irish Sports Council.

The 2016 European Week of Sport and Physical Activity will be celebrated across Ireland from 10th -18th September 2016 and aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, it will inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more. As an annual event, the European Week of Sport will inspire all kinds of creative and exciting events and activities in different countries.


Limerick Dragon Boat Regatta

So if you are looking for something to do then come on down to the Shannon Rowing Club, Sarsfield Bridge, Ennis Road, Limerick on Saturday, 27th August 2016 and watch local teams battle it out in a knock out competition to raise funds for the Shannon Rowing Club. This will be the first time dragon boat has been run on this stretch of the River Shannon.

Team Ireland Are Victorious at European Nations Championships

Ireland’s first ever Irish Senior Women’s International Dragon Boat Team at a European Nations Championships and they only go and win a silver and bronze medal. Well done to the team on an amazing set of results from their first ever international event. The team secured bronze in the 2000m, silver in the 200m and a very close 4th place in the 500m.
