Coaching Qualifications

Reminder – Anyone holding a dragon boat qualification must be a paid up Individual Member of the Irish Dragon Boat Association for the year for the qualification to be valid. If you are operating as a helm or coach we will not accept any responsibility if you do not abide by the Governing Bodies rules and regulations.

Please note, since the formation of the Irish Dragon Boat Association in 2010 we have been operating the IDBF Coaching Scheme. Please ensure that if anyone is training you as a helm or coach that firstly they have a valid coaching certificate and that they are teaching you the correct syllabus. Kilcock Canal Festival Regatta – Sunday, 23rd June 2013

The Kilcock Canal Festival are this year incorporating dragon boat racing into their festival’s activities on Sunday, 23rd June 2013. If you fancy entering a team email and we will put you in touch with the organisers. As usual teams of 17 people are required.

Carrick-on-Suir River Festival – 3rd June 2013

Suir Dragon Paddlers are appearing at the Carrick-on-Suir River Festival on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd June 2013 between 3pm and 5pm. They would welcome anybody interested in dragon boat paddling for Breast Cancer Survivors to come along and check it out! It is hoped to get a second breast cancer dragon boat group going in Waterford in the near future.

World Police and Fire Games 2013

The World Police and Fire Games 2013 is being held in Belfast this coming August and dragon boating is one of the designated sports. To be eligible to enter a team you to need to be associated with the fire or police (gardai) service. For more information visit – or email

Athy Dragon Boat Regatta 2013 – Results

Blessed by the good weather once again, Emily Square on the banks of the River Barrow in Athy buzzed with both competitors and supporters. With at times some very close racing the final results from the regatta are as follows.
