On 14 December 2015 Mike MacKeddie-Haslam together with Alan Van Caubergh, the IDBF Treasurer, signed a contract with Baker Sport Capital (BSC) representatives, that will result in a Digital Sports Management Platform being developed for the IDBF and the IDBF Members. Mike Thomas, as Chairman of the IDBF Competition & Technical Commission and the President Elect, witnessed the signatories.
Why is the IDBF doing this, you might well ask. Well the simple answer is to raise money for the IDBF and our Members, which will be reinvested in the Sport and BSC investment can help the IDBF achieve that.
As a result of this contract, a total of USD 5 million will come into the Sport, in the short term, to provide web-sites at all levels within the Sport and to introduce, implement and manage the Platform, on behalf of the IDBF, its Members, Clubs and Affiliates.
This will be a great step forward in the development of the Sport with funding going to all levels and the IDBF Executive Committee should be congratulated for their commitment to and support for, the project.
There is now much work to be done by both Baker SC and the IDBF to develop the Platform, discuss, agree and implement the detail of the Contract and its Appendices, recruit staff to publicize, promote and introduce the Platform and its benefits to the IDBF Members, Affiliates, Manufacturers and crews around the world.
The outline implementation time table is that work has started on developing the Platform this month and Dragon Sports Solutions, the new management company, working on behalf of the IDBF Members, will be established in January 2016.
Development of the Platform will continue until March 2015 at which time DSS staff will hold ‘teach in’ sessions for IDBF Members and Affiliates etc in IDBF Member’s Countries, with the object of the Platform ‘going live’ by 1 June 2016 or earlier.
How to join the Platform, get your own websites and management programmes’ and support for your own federations and clubs, will be advised to you as the Platform is developed but in general terms access to the Platform and its rewards and management programmes’, will be by a subscription of 1 USD, per person, per year, being registered on the Platform.
Full details of the subscription system will be advised to you early in the New Year, so that you can decide the best way of registering your own Members and those of your Clubs, on to the Platform and what level of rewards and what management systems from it, you wish to adopt for your own federation.
With the introduction of the Platform and the support from Baker SC, the future of the Sport is really looking bright and by ‘signing up’ to the Platform your federation and its Members can take full advantage of that future.
